“The Finest Hours” (PG-13): Chris Pine, Casey Affleck and Eric Bana star in this fact-based survival drama about the crew of an oil tanker that sank during a massive storm in 1952.
“Kung Fu Panda 3” (PG): Jack Black, Angelina Jolie and Dustin Hoffman provide the voices for the third installment in the adventures of the furry martial-arts master.
“Fifty Shades of Black” (R): Kali Hawk, Marlon Wayans, Jane Seymour and Tina Grimm star in this spoof of “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

A CONCERT OF JEWISH MUSIC: 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Columbia’s professional chorus, Colla Voce, presents a concert of sacred Jewish music. The concert will feature “David and Goliath” by Israeli composer Aharon Harlap for this U.S. premiere and the first performance outside of Israel. Also on the program is the premiere of a new arrangement of “Shacharit,” composer Meira Warshauer’s setting of the Jewish service, newly scored for organ, harp and percussion, with its original vocal forces, and Warshauer’s “Akhat Sha’alti” for chorus and percussion. PRESERVATION WORKSHOP ON PLASTER RENOVATION: 9:30 a.m.-noon Saturday in Allen University’s historic Chappelle Auditorium. Historic Columbia, in partnership with Allen University and GMK Associates, is offering a plaster workshop. The program begins with a tour of the Chappelle Auditorium and continues with a discussion of the building construction and materials of the auditorium.
