“NO GREATER FAITH: THE LEGACY OF THE MEMBERS OF MOTHER EMANUEL AME CHURCH:” 11 a.m. Tuesday at Benedict College. Some of the family members and survivors of those killed at Charleston’s Emanuel AME Church last summer will be at Benedict to tell their stories of unwavering faith and love in the aftermath of unconscionable pain and suffering. HISTORY FROM THE MOTHERLAND TO MANN-SIMONS: METHODS OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH: 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday at Mann-Simons. Interested in exploring your family history? Curious about accessing information beyond the traditional genealogical methods? Join local and regional experts for a daylong workshop that addresses various techniques and resources for discovering your past. AUNTIE KAREN FOUNDATION’S 13th ANNUAL LEGENDS OF...CONCERT SERIES: 8 p.m. Feb. 19 at Koger Center for the Arts. Event will feature five-time Grammy Award winner Al Jarreau, performing with his acclaimed band and then the S.C. Philharmonic Orchestra. Each year during Black History Month, the series profiles a jazz, rhythm and blues, gospel or blues artist who has made a lasting contribution to the history of music. The foundation is a nonprofit whose mission is to empower, enlighten, educate through the arts.
