Some pre-Super Bowl festivities for kids, adults
The Super Bowl isn’t exactly scheduled at a kid friendly time.
But that doesn’t mean young fans can’t enjoy some Super Bowl Mania.
The St. Andrew’s Branch of the Richland County Public Library is having a “Super Bowl Mania” event at 4 p.m. Thursday.
“It’s time to get ready for the big gameplay with a family fun Super Bowl pre-party at the library,” said Amanda Chapman, librarian at the St. Andrews branch library.
Whether kids want the Carolina Panthers to “keep pounding” or hope the Broncos will ride to victory, kids ages 9-12 can celebrate Sunday’s 50th Super Bowl.
There will be games, snacks and activities. Kids will create their own football helmet crafts, design a game day pennant, and decorate their own refreshment football bag.
And while kids are crafting and eating, they can watch previous years football highlights on the big screen.
The library has another Super Bowl event for kids, “Let’s Get Ready to Rumble,” from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Southeast branch, 7421 Garners Ferry Road, Lower Richland.
If you’re looking for an adult version of a pre-game party, check out Montessori School of Columbia’s Midwinter Celebration.
Whether you want to see Panthers’ quarterback Cam Newton do his Superman impersonation or hope to see the Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning finish his legendary career with a Super Bowl win, it’s a tailgate for all Super Bowl fans.
The tailgate party starts at 7 p.m. at 701 Whaley. There will be music, food, drinks and games. Adults only and casual attire.
Tickets are $37.92 at the door.
