KRS-One to headline hip-hop festival in Columbia
Rapper KRS-One will headline the Love Peace and Hip-Hop festival this year, organizers announced Wednesday.
Hip-Hop Family Day, hosted by Love Peace & Hip-Hop, was established in 2013 as a family-friendly hip-hop festival. The annual event includes hands-on art exhibits, educational activities, live music and dance performances.
KRS-One gained fame in the 1980s as part of the hip-hop group Boogie Down Productions. The musician released his first solo album under his name in 1993. The festival’s past headliners include Nice & Smooth, Slick Rick and Kool Moe Dee.
This year’s festival is April 9 in downtown Columbia at Main and Laurel streets.
