Fewer birthdays, more awesome: I’m proud to be a Leap Year Baby
“But, like, how old are you really?”
If I had a dollar for every time I’ve been asked that question, I might have more money than your average 6-year-old can count.
But, clearly, I’m not your average 6-year-old. I’m an almost-24-year-old who happens to be among the 0.27 percent of the population who were born on Leap Day, Feb. 29.
So, yeah, I’m kind of special or whatever.
And, no, it doesn’t suck to only have a birthday every four years.
Here are some of my favorite reasons:
1. I always have an interesting fact to tell in “about me” games. But after the whole Leap Year baby thing, I’m pretty much out of interesting facts, unfortunately.
2. I get to be forever young. You better believe that 40 years from now when I’m turning 64, I’m totally going to be playing that Sweet 16 card.
3. I still get presents every year. I mean, hello, I’m still a human being with needs over here, you know? And this year, the 6-year-old princess needs a birthday pony.
