Broadway performers share their craft in special show
Attend a Broadway musical and you’re treated to a wonderful spectacle of spellbinding vocals, terrific music and glorious costumes.
But what if you could spend time with Broadway performers in a more intimate setting, without having to leave Columbia?
Saturday, you’ll have that opportunity when four of Broadway’s brightest stars perform “Broadway Back Together,” a one-night performance of iconic Broadway tunes and pop hits, interspersed with hilarious, heartfelt anecdotes and exclusive behind-the-curtain stories from some of New York City’s biggest stages.
The performers include Telly Leung of hit television show “Glee” and current Broadway smash “Allegiance;” Mandy Gonzalez of “Wicked,” “Aida,” “In The Heights” and the feature film “Across the Universe;” Marcus Paul James of “Motown the Musical,” “In The Heights” and “Rent;” and two-time Tony-nominee Robin de Jesús of “La Cage Aux Folles,” “Wicked,” “In The Heights” and the film “Camp.”
“For one night only, four friends who’ve shared the incredible experience of being on Broadway together will celebrate their friendship and their love of the theater in an evening of great music and personal on-stage and off-stage anecdotes,” said Telly Leung. “We’ll perform songs from Broadway’s greatest hits like ‘Rent,’ ‘Wicked’ and ‘La Cage Aux Folles’ and ‘In the Heights,’ as well as well as songs from the world of pop, rock, jazz, and R&B.”
Broadway Back Together will be performed at Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College. The show begins at 7:30.
