Portions of the walking trails at Riverfront Park will reopen for public use Tuesday, according to the city of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department.

Visitors will have access to 2.5 miles of the walking trail between the Broad River and Columbia Canal to the Diversion Dam. Visitors can use the parking lot at 312 Laurel St. to access the trail. The parking lot at the north end of the park near River Drive will remain closed to the public.

The trail near the Broad River Bridge is open to walkers, runners and bicyclists. Portions of the trail at the bridge are not yet open. The south end section between the Columbia Hydroelectric plant and the main entrance to Riverfront Park will remain closed indefinitely, according to the press release.

The park will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
