Touring show makes fun of menopause
Night sweats. Hot flashes. Mood swings. Memory loss. Menopause is definitely not fun.
But “Menopause The Musical” is lots of fun. The opening scene at a lingerie sale brings together four very different women who find common ground over those discomforts.
The show features musical parodies of songs from the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s: The Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive” becomes “Stayin’ Awake,” and Peter Paul and Mary’s “Puff the Magic Dragon” becomes “Puff, My God I’m Draggin.’ ”
This performance is part of what GFour Productions is calling “The Survivor Tour,” featuring a cast made up of breast cancer survivors and partnering with the Susan G. Komen nonprofit – $2 of every ticket benefit is donated to the foundation.
Tickets are $46 at ticketmaster.com, and the show is 7 p.m. Wednesday at The Township, 1703 Taylor St. Doors open at 6 p.m.
This performance was originally scheduled for Oct. 4 but was canceled because of widespread flooding that day; tickets purchased for the canceled performance will be honored. Refunds are also available at point of purchase.
