Pulitzer Prize-winning author Anthony Doerr to give book talk in Columbia

Anthony Doerr, author of “All the Light We Cannot See,” will be in Columbia Wednesday for the University of South Carolina’s Open Book Series.

The five-week series brings authors into the city for book talks each spring. The series runs through April 20. There is a lecture on the author’s latest book on Monday and then a book talk with the author mid-week with a Q&A and book signings.

Most talks take place at the Ernest F. Hollings Special Collections Library, but Doerr’s visit will be in the USC Law School auditorium at 701 Main St.

Wednesday — “All the Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr

April 11 and April 13 — “Everything I Never Told You” by Celeste Ng.

April 18 and April 20 — “The Book of Illusions” by Paul Auster

Landscape exhibition at FAC

The large, realistic landscapes in oils by Aiken artist Al Beyer will be on display at the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County. The exhibition runs through May 4.

An Evening with Chris Raschka

“Augusta Baker's Dozen: A Celebration of Stories” author and illustrator Chris Raschka will bring children’s literature to life at this event at 701 Whaley. A reception will follow along with a book sale and signing.
