The Benedict College Theater Ensemble presents “A Raisin in the Sun.” The play reveals a brief moment in the life of an African-American family living in the slums on the south side of Chicago in the 1950s. “FIRST FOLIO! THE BOOK THAT GAVE US SHAKESPEARE:” 5-7 p.m. Thursday in the Hollings Library at Thomas Cooper Library, University of South Carolina. USC welcomes the traveling exhibit of William Shakespeare’s First Folio, with the first collected edition of his works published in 1623 opening to the public. The national traveling exhibition from the Folger Shakespeare Library is part of an international commemoration of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. One of the world’s most treasured books, the First Folio includes 36 of his plays including “The Tempest,” “Macbeth” and “As you Like It.” Free and open to the public.
