Ryan Wingard was born and raised in Lexington and grew up spending his summers on Lake Murray, where he spent many hours boating and fishing.

Now, in his role as board member for the Capital City Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board, Wingard helps promote regional tourism for Columbia, Lake Murray and its four surrounding counties.

In 2007, Wingard joined Lexington’s Davis Frawley Law Firm, where he is a partner concentrating in real estate law, including residential and commercial real estate transactions. He and his wife, Ellen, live in Lexington with their two daughters, Mary Elliott and Caroline.

EAT: Liberty Tap Room and Grill at Marina Bay on Lake Murray has a great atmosphere and view with wonderful food. Frayed Knot Bar and Grill (Dreher Island Road) is a family-friendly place with a unique menu and great food. The fish tacos are awesome there.

DRINK: If I were going to take someone out for a beer, we’d go to Old Mill Brew Pub on East Main Street in Lexington or to the Krafty Draft on Charter Oak Road near the Hendrix Crossing Publix. Old Mill Brew Pub brews their own beer, and Krafty Draft has over 100 craft beers on tab, including unique ones like a jalapeno beer.

PLAY: The Blowfish are a wonderful new addition to Lexington, and I’d recommend catching a home game. Striper fishing on Lake Murray is top-notch.

SEE: The Fourth of July fireworks on Lake Murray are always a spectacular show. Another favorite Lake Murray activity is watching the purple martins make their way to roost on Doolittle (Bomb) Island each afternoon in late summer.

LISTEN: There will be some good concerts on Lake Murray this summer that should be a lot of fun. We are particularly looking forward to Lake Murray Fest over Memorial Day Weekend.
