MOVIES OPENING IN COLUMBIA THIS WEEKEND

“Papa Hemingway in Cuba” (R): The first Hollywood film shot on location in Havana since 1959, this drama centers on the relationship between a Miami newspaper reporter (Giovanni Ribisi) and the author Ernest Hemingway (Adrian Sparks).

“Keanu” (R): Comedy Central’s Keenan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele try to pass for drug dealers in order to retrieve their adorable kitten.

“Mother’s Day” (PG-13): This star-studded ensemble comedy tells a series of interlocking stories about motherhood.

Ratchet & Clank” (PG): Oddball alien Ratchet (voice of James Arnold Taylor) and his brainy robot sidekick Clank (David Kaye) embark on their biggest adventure ever in this adaptation of the video-game franchise by Insomniac Games, which explores the characters' origin story as they work together to defend the Solana Galaxy from the evil Chairman Drek (Paul Giamatti).

Columbia’s Main Street boasts architectural styles spanning three centuries that speak to the tastes, interests, and aspirations of people living and working in Columbia. This guided tour offers insight into the history of Columbia focusing on the progress seen through the life of its Main Street and downtown corridor. Participants will stop at local historic sites and receive two free beverages and appetizers along the way. S.C. GARDEN JAMBOREE: 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Friday at Saluda Shoals Park. Calling all foodies! Choose three from 10 interactive workshops to attend. Jim Young from Stout Ollie Compost will be the featured speaker in “Talk Dirt To Me.” Workshop topics include the garden table, growing tomatoes, edible plant walk, trellis construction and more. ULTIMATE CHALLENGE MUD RUN: 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. start times Saturday in Gaston. The Ultimate Challenge Mud Run is a non-profit organization featuring a 2- or 4-person team competition Obstacle Race, designed and built by a former Marine drill instructor.
