Take a walk on the wild side Tuesday at Riverfront Park

Take advantage of the blissful period before the full force of summer in Columbia by getting outside. Columbia has 60 city parks and green spaces, and 600 acres of city-maintained parkland.

The Columbia Parks & Recreation Department is offering guided “Wildlife Walks” at Riverfront Park during the month of May.

The walk this Tuesday night will focus on the wildife like birds, beavers and (occasional) snakes you might see along the walkways at Riverfront Park.

The walk will be about a mile and a half, according the the parks and recreation department, and will follow side trails as well as the main pathways.

Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars and field guides as well as any essentials like water, sunscreen, bug repellent, hats and walking footwear.
