As spring continues to march toward summer, many area gardens are blooming into outdoor paradises.

Thursday and Saturday, you have a chance to tour some of those on the Lexington County Master Gardener Volunteers 2016 Garden Tour.

Six gardens in the Irmo and Ballentine areas will be on the tour, and are designed to inspire, teach and offer ideas to incorporate into your own garden. Each garden is unique and exemplifies Southern gardening pride and individuality.

“They are gorgeous,” said Ivy Rice, of the club.

Lexington County Master Gardeners will be on hand to talk about plants. One garden will feature gardening demonstrations and presentations regarding hardscapes and low maintenance gardening. Another is a traditional Japanese garden that has been cultivated for 20 years.

Tickets are $25, and proceeds go to the Sam Cheatham Scholarship for Lexington County horticulture students.

Tours begin at 9 a.m. and end at 5 p.m., rain or shine. Tickets allow participants to tour the gardens at their own pace.

Purchase tickets at Clemson Extension office, 605 West Suite 109, Lexington, or at http://lcmgv.org. You also can purchase tickets at the first garden on the tour. To get that information call Rice at (803) 237-8272. Once you buy a ticket you receive information about the gardens on the tour.
