Farm to Table – to Main Street – set for Sunday

Having dinner on Main Street has a more literal meaning Sunday.

Farm to Table is having Dinner on Main at 5:30 p.m. Main Street will be blocked off from Gervais Street to the parking garage and tables will be set up on the road.

“We do this to celebrate our city center and our Main Street businesses,” said Vanessa Driscoll, founder and managing partner of Farm To Table Event Company. “We highlight local farmers, local food, local businesses and the great things Columbia has to offer.”

Executive chef Todd Woods from The Oak Table, sous chef Charles Stricklin from The Oak Table, executive chef Frank Bradley from Bourbon, owner/chef Kristian Niemi from Bourbon and Phil Blair, the owner of The Whig, will be preparing the meal.

There will be cocktails at a reception prior to the meal. The menu:

First Course

“Breakfast Bowl?” Fire Threshed Peelcorn Oat Porridge, poached Will-Moore Farms egg, spring onion, smoked lamb bacon bits, Indah “Red-Eye Gravy”

Second Course

Carolina Coastal Crawfish Etoufee over Anson Mills Sea Island “Hoppin John”

Salad Course

Hominy from Congaree Mills, baby arugula and radishes from Cabin Branch Farms, fava beans, cherry tomatoes, bacon lardons from Carolina Heritage and citrus vinaigrette

Main Course

Boudin-stuffed Sumter Squab with rich herb demi glaze, New Crop Crimson Popping Sorghum “Grits”, roasted baby fennel and escarole

Dessert Course

Watsonia Farms Peach Cobbler, Congaree Milling Blue Cornmeal Biscuits, Trail Ridge Dairy Goat Milk Ice Cream

The Farm to Table mission is to bring together the community through agritourism, local food and local chefs who are experts in bringing the freshest ingredients to the table in creative and unique ways.
