Summertime in the Midlands means time on the water for swimming, boating, fishing and other fun.

All that activity, of course, will make you hungry.

If you’re out at Lake Murray, you’re in luck, with several options for dining with a view.

Rusty Anchor Restaurant

Longtime lake eatery Rusty Anchor Restaurant reopened under new ownership in March. Jonathan Peter Angel, owner of Forest Acres’ J. Peters restaurant, reopened the lake restaurant, featuring a casual theme and decor with a fine dining menu twist. Menu items such as shrimp and grits, grouper, fried catfish and seafood sandwiches are customer favorites, but the filet mignon and rib-eye put the surf-and-turf concept over the top.

1925 Johnson Marina Road, Chapin. Hours: 4-9 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday; 4-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday; 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday; closed Monday. (803) 749-1555

Catfish Johnny’s at Rusty Anchor

Adjacent to the Rusty Anchor (and operating under its ownership umbrella) is Catfish Johnny’s – a lake bar concept eatery, where appetizers and sandwiches top the menu, a full bar and grill draw in the locals, and live entertainment abounds. Catfish Johnny’s is seasonal, opening in April and closing in the early fall.

1925 Johnson Marina Road, Chapin. Hours: Opens for the season each year beginning in April; 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday; closed Monday

Frayed Knot Bar & Grill

If you’re looking for a variety of lunch or dinner options and need to fill up your boat with some ethanol-free gasoline, check out the Frayed Knot on Dreher Island Road. Frayed Knot’s dinner menu features, of course, seafood, as well as originals such as the Dreher Island Chicken, a 9-ounce sauteed chicken breast covered in mushrooms, caramelized onions and a Parmesan cream sauce served over cheddar-garlic whipped potatoes and grilled asparagus. Frayed Knot also features a Sunday brunch and the Knotty Tiki bar, a casual full-service bar and kitchen outside with fire pits, televisions and music.

1701 Dreher Island Road, Chapin. Hours: 11 a.m.-midnight Monday-Thursday; 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Friday-Saturday; 10 a.m.-midnight Sunday. (803) 945-1792

Liberty on the Lake

A local favorite, Liberty Tap Room on the Lake features menu items and drinks loved by patrons of the bar and grill’s Vista location, all with a hard-to-beat lakefront view from the Lake Murray Marina. Monday through Friday “Sunset Specials” include $5 heavy appetizers and cheese pizza and $3 Liberty brews and Bud Light draft.

1602 Marina Road, Suite D, Irmo. Kitchen hours: 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday-Thursday; 11 a.m.-11 p.m., Friday-Saturday. Bar hours: 11 a.m.-11 p.m., Sunday-Thursday; 11 a.m.-midnight, Friday-Saturday. (803) 667-9715
