Baby animals, bubbles, monsters and more, all part of EdVenture’s ‘Summertime Saturdays’
School is out and EdVenture is in full swing with its new Summertime Saturdays, special themed event days, running June 4-Aug. 13.
“While EdVenture is a great place to visit everyday, we wanted families with children to be able to count on something extra special every Saturday. So no matter what your child’s interest, families can enjoy unique happenings every weekend the entire summer,” Karen Coltrane, the museum’s president and CEO, said in a news release.
Here is a listing of all Summertime Saturdays events:
June 4, Baby Animal Day: Cuddle up with rescued and adoptable puppies and kittens from Pets Inc. (10 a.m.-2 p.m.), and meet baby animals from the Lil’ Buddies Learning Zoo (10 a.m.-2 p.m.). Before heading home, children can take a ride on a pony (11 a.m.-4 p.m.) and leave with an animal-themed art project!
June 11, Bubble Balooza: Play with and discover different sizes and shapes of bubbles at stations throughout the museum – even put yourself inside of a bubble! Every child will leave with his own bubbles.
June 18, Super Hero Day: Who’s your favorite super hero? Celebrate both cartoon and real life heroes in our community who make a difference.
June 25, Car Day: Earn your EdVenture driver’s license at Car Day 2016. Sit in an antique car, learn about motors and gears, and learn about how to ride safely in a car or cross a busy street. Enjoy car crafts, toy car races, and creative car fun.
July 2, Star Spangled Day: Celebrate the 240th birthday of the USA. Indulge in a red, white, and blue birthday cake, learn patriotic songs, listen in on Independence Day story times, learn the science behind fireworks, and join in a parade in the museum led by none other than Uncle Sam.
July 9, Monster Day: Join EdVenture’s science lab team for a day of “Monster” science. Make monster toothpaste and monster gak, and build your own monster’s lair and watch it ooze.
July 16, Pirate and Princess Day: Climb aboard EdVenture’s own pirate ship, bounce away to magical kingdoms in a moon bounce castle; listen to and write your own fairy tale, and participate in an enchanted day of craft projects and mystifying science activities.
