Riverbanks Zoo has come up with another way for the family to spend time together.

The first “Twilight in the Garden” is set for Friday in Riverbanks Botanical Garden. The event offers an after-hours experience with a family-friendly movie and an opportunity to explore Waterfall Junction, with its 25-foot cascading waterfall and splash zone. The series is offered on select Fridays throughout the summer.

Gates open at 6, so families can have time to play in the 3-acre water garden. Waterfall Junction will close before the start of the featured move at dusk.

This week’s featured film is “Alvin and the Chipmunks.” Other announced films include “Kung Fu Panda 3,” July 8; and “The LEGO Movie,” Aug. 12.

Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket for lounging in the lawn located in front of the Garden amphitheater. Concessions will be available for purchase; a cash bar also will be offered. Outside food and drink will not be allowed inside the park.

Admission $3 for Riverbanks members, $5 for the general public; advance purchase at www.riverbanks.org Parking and entry will be on the Botanical Garden side only; access the garden entrance from U.S. 378 via Mohawk and Seminole drives.
