Hanging out at the loading dock will be a little different Thursday at The Township.

Loading Dock Live!, a series of concerts held on the loading dock behind The Township, is a community event sponsored by the Township Auditorium Foundation.

Thursday’s concert features The Mobros opening for Terence Young & Finesse.

“It’s our intent to bring focus on local talent with this series,” said Robbie Butt, a consultant for the Township Auditorium Foundation.

The Mobros are a good example of that. Kelly and Patrick Morris are from Camden, and are on tour after opening for B.B. King.

The Finesse Band is a six-member dance/party band that was founded by guitarist Terence J. Young. Finesse was the band in the wedding scene in the movie “Accidental Love,” starring Jessica Biel, Jake Gyllenhaal and Tracy Morgan.

“The purpose of ‘Loading Dock Live!’ is uncovering and nurturing local talent,” Butt said. “This is one of the things the foundation does for our community.”

The series of concerts began three years ago, with performances in the spring and fall.

“It’s a fun event,” Butt said. “It’s outdoors, it’s open, it’s free. You can bring your friends, bring your family, bring your pet.”

The free concert begins at 5:30 p.m. The loading dock is on Blanding Street. No alcohol will be sold, but coolers are allowed. Bring a lawn chair if you choose.

There will be food available for purchase – Kiki’s Chicken and Waffles and there will be a fish fry.

The Township Auditorium Foundation works to assure the future of entertainment and the performing arts in what was known as "South Carolina's Showplace" when it was built eighty years ago.
