FREE CONCERTS AT COLUMBIA COLLEGE: 5-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6-8 p.m. Friday at Columbia College. Dozens of middle and high school students, along with masters of the saxophone, will gather for a week of musical training at Saxophone Summer Camp, and the public will get a chance to hear their music nightly. Free. All concerts will be on campus at Spears Center for the Arts except for Friday’s, set for Cottingham Theatre. 1301 Columbia College Drive.

FLORA AND FAUNA: 10:30 a.m. cafe, 11 a.m. lecture Tuesday at Columbia Museum of Art. Revealing another side of current exhibit “Daufuskie Memories,” naturalist and Daufuskie resident Roger Pinckney gives insight into the plants and wildlife of this barrier island. Start the day at the museum with pastries and coffee sold at The Wired Goat pop-up cafe, with a portion of proceeds benefiting educational initiatives at the museum. ROBERT EARL KEEN IN CONCERT: 9 p.m. Wednesday at Music Farm Columbia. Texas singer-songwriter Robert Earl Keen, known for popular hits like “The Road Goes on Forever,” “Feeling Good Again” and “Merry Christmas from the Family,” returns to Columbia for a show. “AURORA OF MEMORIES:” 3-4 p.m. Wednesday at Richland Library Ballentine. Share your favorite memories and have them immortalized in art. Artist Ayako Miller is creating a textile sculpture, called “Aurora of Memories,” for the new Richland Library Ballentine. She needs your memories – photos, quotes, favorite book covers, short messages – to incorporate into the sculpture. NATIONAL CHILDREN & YOUTH GARDEN SYMPOSIUM: Various times and locations, Wednesday through Saturday in Columbia. Columbia will be front and center at this national children’s gardening symposium, which will include more than 40 presentations and provide a forum for hundreds of educators, garden designers, program leaders and others from across the country who are passionate about connecting kids with plants and the natural world. Among activities: tours of Pearl Fryar Topiary Garden, Moore Farms Botanical Garden, Heathwood Hall Episcopal School’s gardens, and Riverbanks Zoo & Garden. DISNEY’S “THE LITTLE MERMAID:” Opening night, 7:30 p.m. Friday at Town Theatre. Life under the sea is a magical kingdom. Yet, despite the wonders of the sea floor, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel still longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. She bargains with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her mermaid tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends Flounder, Scuttle and Sebastian to restore order. The cast includes more than 50 performers. At each kilometer, participants will run through Foam Bogs, where there is enough colored foam to cover you from head to toe. The four foam bogs on the course have different colored foam. PALMETTO TASTY TOMATO FESTIVAL: 4-9 p.m. Saturday at City Roots. The festival is a celebration of locally grown food. Highlights will include a free heirloom tomato tasting, live music on two stages, local food, a craft beer garden, tomato bobbing, and the Tasty Tomato Contest. Festival food will feature local restaurants serving local food with a tomato theme. $12 in advance; tickets at the door are cash only. MULTICULTURAL DAY AND COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIR: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the S.C. State Museum. In conjunction with the exhibit “RACE: Are We So Different?,” the museum will host this event that features several cultural organizations showcasing their traditional customs, dance and music. Midlands community health groups will be available for free screenings, as well as panel discussions addressing health disparities in South Carolina.
