How I Go Columbia: Children’s clothing line designer Anne Pierce
Earlier this year, Anne Pierce launched Prim and Proper, a line of fine children’s clothing.
Within just a few months, products from Pierce’s line have been requested by shops and boutiques across the Southeast, and her newly created fall line is already in high demand by shops and through the company’s website, www.shopprimandproper.com.
A former interior designer, Pierce sketches the entire line before it’s sent to production and oversees all of Prim and Proper’s operations.
Pierce lives in Columbia with her husband and their five children.
EAT: Our whole family loves Groucho’s Deli. You can’t go wrong with the STP (roast beef, turkey, Swiss cheese melt and bacon crumbs on a sub roll). We also love Publico’s tacos, and the patio on the back is great for our kids.
DRINK: When we have a sitter, Solstice is near our house, so my husband and I enjoy nights out there. We also love Cantina 76 on Devine Street.
SEE: It’s always fun to see a show at the Columbia Marionette Theatre. And we’re so lucky to have Riverbanks Zoo so close to home. We spend a lot of time there year-round. We also love to see our daughter dance in performances with Palmetto Performing Arts, and our son plays baseball, so we’re always watching his games.
LISTEN: On Saturday mornings, we try to go to Soda City on Main Street. It’s great because you never know who you’ll run into, but there are always musicians playing around the market, and my kids are entertained.
PLAY: Sesquicentennial State Park is also near home, and we love the splash pad there in these hot months. When I have time to myself to shop, it seems like I always end up at Trenholm Plaza. I grew up here in Columbia, and our shopping landscape has changed so much recently. Trenholm Plaza has plenty of boutiques and great restaurants and some of the bigger brands I love having in town these days.
