If you like to watch riding, catch this annual event, where elite professional cowboys and cowgirls from across the country will compete in eight categories that will also include barrel racing, tie-down roping, steer wrestling and other events. Historic Columbia, in partnership with Dan Clayton of Paradise Plants Plus, is offering an indoor, hands-on garden workshop focusing on off-season camellia care. Clayton is well known in the gardening community for beginning his business by taking cuttings of historic camellias from Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, which has one of the largest collections of camellias in the world. HARRY POTTER PARTY: 8 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble at Richland Mall. The book store is hosting a party and midnight release of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.” The book-version of this stage script by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne comes out officially Sunday, July 31 – Harry’s birthday. SOUTHERN HEAT MUSIC FESTIVAL: 7 p.m. Saturday at Colonial Life Arena. The Southern Heat Music Festival will undoubtedly raise the temperature in the CLA, when a pack of famous rappers including T.I., Yo Gotti and Young Thug take the stage. ROCK THE PLAZA: 3:30-10-p.m. Saturday at LaBrasca’s. This fundraiser, presented by LaBrasca’s restaurant and the Cross Hill Neighborhood Association, will raise money for victims of October’s devastating floods. LaBrasca’s itself was hit hard but has since reopened. Music groups will perform throughout the day and evening, among them Nashville recording artist Brandon Bailey, rock band Thunder Pigs, Greenville’s Kebin Ahrens, and Sumter band Bad Water.
