Music in the Midlands: Brave Baby, Barnwell, Those Lavender Whales

Brave Baby

Five after Five, the outdoor concert series in Five Points, continues Thursday with performances by Barnwell and Brave Baby. Barnwell is a local indie rock band that has been touring the state.

Headliner Brave Baby is a Charleston-based band that mixes pop, rock and ambient sounds. The band released its sophomore LP, “Electric Friends,” last year. Many of the songs have a beachy feel, making Brave Baby a perfect choice for a summer concert.

Pantasia Steel Band: Enjoy Caribbean and reggae tunes at the city of Columbia’s fifth summer concert in Finlay Park. Pantasia Steel Band will perform with Coolie G & Lion Soul.

Take blankets and lawn chairs. Food vendors will be available.

Brandon Bailey: The Nashville country artist will perform at the “Beat Back the Flood” event at LaBrasca’s. The restaurant will donate proceeds to flood victims in the Midlands. With rock band Thunder Pigs, Kebin Ahrens and Bad Water. Columbia Arts Academy students will kick off the show at around 1:30 p.m.

Bands will start playing around 3:30 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. Saturday, July 30 at LaBrasca’s, 4365 Jackson Blvd. Free.

At the Graves: One-man heavy metal band Ben Price will perform as At the Graves, with folk punk band The Disappearing Man and Dollar Genital.

Those Lavender Whales: Indie folk group Those Lavender Whales will perform with pop punk group Naked Naps and experimental punk band Ugly Chords.
