How well do you know your Five Points bars?

By day Five Points is busy with lunch-goers and shoppers, but by night it takes on a different vibe. The streets of this popular neighborhood district come alive with music, bar crawls, dance parties, Snapchat moments, late night meals and blurry Uber rides home.

Five Points has been a tradition for college students for generations.

“There’s a rich history between students and Five Points,” said Amy Beth Franks, executive director at Five Points Association. “They grow up hearing stories from their parents who went to Five Points when they were in school, so there’s something really organic about students going to Five Points and we love having them. There’s a youthfulness and sense of vitality that the students add and it vibes really well with everything we have going on here.”

So to get you primed for Five Points, Franks indulged us with word associations on what some of the restaurants and bars are known for. Her answers follow here:

Bar None: Smoked wings and a great happy hour. 620 Harden St.

Breakers Bar & Grill: Live music and slushies. 801 Harden St. (803) 771-6360

Carolina Pour House: Turning 21? They’ll give you a bottle of champagne if it’s your birthday. “I’ve been with someone who turned 21 and trust me, it’s fun to have that bottle of champagne.” 800 Harden St.

Cover 3: Always crowded. “If you’re looking to go to a bar and meet new people and like to be in the spot where everybody else is, Cover 3 always looks like it is packed and that everybody’s having great time.” 711 Harden St.

Delaney’s Music Pub & Eatery: A right of passage. Founder of pint night. Headquarters for St. Patrick’s Day festivities. “You can go, get a Guinness, listen to bagpipers and immerse yourself in the holiday.” 741 Saluda Ave.

Five Points Saloon: Home of $1 beers Thursday night and good times. 812 Harden St.

Group Therapy: Another right of passage. Five Point’s oldest business and bar. Any of their candy-themed drinks are great, such as “The Nerd.” 2107 Greene St.

Jake’s On Devine: “Two things come to mind: yappy hour – dog friendly happy hour – and they have that amazing patio. ... And now they’ve partnered with Yellow Dog Barbecue and have amazing food.” 2112 Devine St.

Latitude 22°: Great drink specials including sharable fish bowl drinks. Nautical theme. 636 Harden St.

Lucky’s Of Columbia: Fun karaoke nights. 2100 Devine St.

Moosehead Saloon: Ride the mechanical bull. 2020 Devine St.

Pavlov’s: Monday Night Pav’s (MNP) is also a right of passage. Greek life hangout on Monday nights. Has its own hash tag (#MNP). “You can call it the capital of Greek life.” 2000-B Greene St.

Pinch: BINGO. Hands down. “They have a line outside at 7 p.m. ... Great drink specials, prizes and the host is always really entertaining.” 640 Harden St.

Salty Nut Cafe: Great deck. “Their theme is the saltiest nuts and the biggest deck in Five Points and it’s true!” 2000-A Greene St. (803) 256-4611

Speakeasy: Cozy couches. Perfect place for a nightcap at the end of a date. 711 Saluda Ave.

The Attic: New to Five Points. “It actually feels like you’re in an attic. ... And they’re the only rooftop bar in Five Points.” 638 Harden St.

The Bird Dog: Drinks in mason jars. Famous for t-shirt Tuesday. “They do wine specials on Tuesdays and every sorority girl I’ve ever met goes.” 715 Harden St.

The Cotton Gin: Great for sorority and fraternity rental. “And if they’re not closed for a rental, their dance floor upstairs is awesome.” 632 Harden St.

The Horseshoe: Known for its huge line and crowd. 724 Harden St.

The Thirsty Parrot: Ages 18 and up. “It’s nice to have an option for people that aren’t 21 but still want to go out in Five Points.” 734 Harden St.

Cellar On Greene: Three-course special for $22. “If you’re a student with a refined palate, who’s looking for an elevated culinary experience but you don’t have a huge budget, this is perfect.” 2001-D Greene St.

CJ’s: Great outdoor area. Always popping popcorn and just added a grilled cheese to their menu that’s worth trying. 749 Saluda Ave.

Pawley’s Front Porch: “You don’t get a better burger than at Pawley’s. They were featured on (Food Network’s) ‘Diners Drive-Ins and Dives.’” 827 Harden St.

Village Idiot: Pizza; tucked away upstairs. Unofficial football player hangout.“And they’ve got great pizza. I love it.” 2009 Devine St.

Yesterday’s Restaurant And Tavern: Really good substitute for a home-cooked meal away from home. “If you are missing grandma or mom’s cooking, Yesterday’s is definitely the place to go.” 2030 Devine St.
