How I Go Columbia: USC’s Stinson Rogers

A native of Spartanburg, Stinson Rogers is making a name for himself as a first-generation Gamecock in his role as the current student body treasurer at the University of South Carolina.

In addition to being a senior global supply chain and operations management major in the Darla Moore School of Business, Rogers also is pursing a minor in retail and public relations.

Rogers’ stint as a student body officer isn’t his first time in a leadership position. Previously, he served in the U.S. Army as a military police officer and deployed to Iraq and Korea. While serving in Korea, he was elected treasurer for Better Opportunity for Single Soldiers.

After he left active-duty status, he enrolled at USC and wasted no time getting involved with student organizations. Rogers is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity, as well as the USC men’s rugby team.

EAT: I love food and, as a true South Carolinian, I enjoy great barbecue, which is why my favorite place to eat here in Columbia is Little Pigs. Little Pigs offers vinegar pepper, tomato-based and mustard-based barbecue, and their soul food sides always have me coming back for more.

DRINK: A smoothie is always a great choice. I go to Tropical Smoothie Cafe almost every day after I work out at the Strom (Thurmond) Wellness Center. I always order the Sunrise Sunset with whey protein to make it super healthy.

SEE: Gamecock football. I love going to the games to see a Gamecock victory, even though last year, they were few and far between. However, as I go into my senior year, I am confident and excited to see Will Muschamp and the team in action at Williams-Brice Stadium.

LISTEN: I enjoy listening to live music. On a Saturday night, you may catch me at the Tin Roof or Pearlz Oyster Bar enjoying some live music from a local artist.

PLAY: Rugby – it’s a rough sport, but I love it. As a rugby player, you can almost always catch me on the field. I play the position of winger, so I’m always trying to score a try (touchdown).
