Knight of Honor event will recognize Midlands heroes

Provided

Heroes In Blue’s inaugural Knight of Honor event this fall will recognize law enforcement and citizen heroes for service.

The event, set for Oct. 7 at Columbia’s Rockbridge Club, also will raise money for Heroes in Blue, an organization founded by Kassy Alia, whose husband Greg Alia, a Forest Acres police officer, was killed in 2015 during a struggle with a suspect. The organization’s mission is to promote police and community relationships and to support families of officers killed in the line of duty.

Midlands law enforcement and citizen heroes will be knighted for compassionate and selfless acts of service during the event, according to a news release. One outstanding officer will receive the Officer Gregory Alia Award, and one citizen will be given the Citizen Hero Award, to be presented by special guest and former USC football standout Marcus Lattimore.

Dinner from Rosso Trattoria will follow the ceremony. Beer and wine will be provided by Craft and Draft including a brew specially made for the event by Conquest Brewing Company. Also on tap: medieval entertainment and music by local Celtic rockers Syr. Dress is medieval themed or cocktail attire.

Tickets are $75 for the event, which runs 7-11 p.m. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/please-join-heroes-in-blue-for-a-knight-of-honor-tickets-26914622360
