Learn to play a string instrument with USC String Project
Anyone interested in learning to play a string instrument should go to the orientation Tuesday for the University of South Carolina String Project.
The String Project provides instruction in violin, viola, cello and bass through group classes and orchestras. Since its inception in the mid-1970s, the String Project has become one of the university’s most popular outreach programs.
Children in third through fifth grades as well adults can take beginner classes through the program. Teachers are undergraduate and graduate students supervised by USC faculty members.
The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the String Project building, 851 Park St. directly behind the Koger Center for the Arts. The cost is $80 for children and $100 for adults. Participants also must provide or rent instruments.
