Get your dancing shoes on for Sunday’s concert in Chapin
Chapin’s Labor Day Festival gets in the swing Sunday with a free concert on Beaufort Street.
Anthony Charles and the Blues Dolphins will play on the eve of the lake town’s Labor Day Festival and Parade, which happens Monday.
But Sunday, there will be dancing in the street.
“We promote this as a Labor Day weekend event, but most of the events are on Monday,” said Karen Owens, Chapin’s communications and economic development director. “We wanted something that would bring people to Beaufort Street.”
This is the second year Anthony Charles and the Blues Dolphins, a Chicago-style Blues band from Columbia, will kickoff Chapin’s Labor Day festivities.
“It’s a real fun time,” Owens said, and family friendly.
The street party starts at 7 p.m. and the band starts playing at 8. The free concert is sponsored by United Sporting Companies.
There will be food and drinks available. Carolina Cookin’ and Tipsy Toad Tavern will have food and drink, and Tap It! Bottles & Brews will have samples of craft beer.
Folks are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, but no coolers allowed.
The party will not be going all night long. It will end by 10:30-11 p.m.
“We all have to be back for the parade,” Owens said.
Chapin’s Labor Day Parade begins at 9:30 a.m. Monday. Other events during Monday’s festival include:
▪ Classic Car Show in the Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church parking lot off Beaufort Street
▪ Children’s carnival area on Clark Street
▪ Live music on Beaufort Street stage featuring Cash Money
▪ Chapin Public Library Annual Book Sale - Community Room at Chapin Town Hall
▪ AMROC Model Train Exhibit in the American Legion Post 193 Building
▪ Vendors on Beaufort and Clark streets
