Demonic activity reported at SC plantation investigated on TV program

A 200-year-old Midlands plantation is the subject of the latest episode of a TV show dedicated to investigating paranormal activity.

The investigators on Travel Channel’s “Ghost Nation” visited Blair, SC, to examine reports of a possible demon at the Fonti Flora Plantation, according to the show’s supervising producer, Erin VandeVen.

The episode about the Fairfield County investigation, appropriately titled “Demonic Plantation,” will debut Wednesday night at 9 p.m.

Dave Spinks, a paranormal investigator featured on “Ghost Nation,” was the person who brought the Fonti Flora Plantation to the attention of the show’s producers. He previously investigated its reports of demonic activity, according to VandeVen.

The show’s stars — investigators Jason Hawes, Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango — learned of “numerous deaths on the land and a dark family secret,” according to Travel Channel.

Construction on the plantation began in 1819, and the property is currently owned by Kent Vickery, who lives there with his family, VandeVen said.

Vickery told producers that over the years many members of his family and friends experienced things they can’t explain. Some friends have told Vickery when they visit the property they prefer to camp outside because of the strange things that have happened, according to VandeVen.

In spite of unsettling reports, producers said in the episode the team “dives head first to determine what is fact and what is fiction” at the property in Blair.

“After 15 years of hunting ghosts, we know that finding evidence of paranormal activity won’t be enough to solve these problems entirely,” Hawes said in a news release. “We need to get to the source of the disturbance to bring these families much-needed peace, or else innocent people will continue to suffer.”

This is the fifth episode of the second season on “Ghost Nation.” Producers say the show specializes in delving into mysteries that have never been investigated on TV.

“They’ll do whatever it takes to entice the ghost into telling its story and stop at nothing to get to the bottom of the paranormal phenomena,” according to the release.
