Sean Moore recently ran the staff of BLD Diner through a weekend of soft opening shifts in preparation for the long awaited opening of the restaurant in Trenholm Plaza. Now the wait is over as BLD Diner will officially open Monday, Aug. 6.

As the name implies, BLD will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some of the menu items include: French toast made with challah bread that is soaked overnight then fried for a crunchy exterior while keeping a soft interior, served with whipped orange butter, fresh seasonal fruit and a maple syrup drizzle; homemade biscuits with sausage gravy; a nod to Nashville’s hot chicken in the form of an open face sandwich; shrimp and grits; corned beef on marbled rye; porterhouse pork chop; roasted chicken; and steak filet.

The homemade mac-and-cheese will surely be a crowd pleaser.

BLD Diner will also feature fresh squeezed juices, espresso machines, and a milkshake station. Fresh baked cakes will be provided by Main Street Bakery.

Moore, a former restaurant consultant, was the franchise owner of the 12 Five Guys Burgers & Fries locations in Columbia and Charleston. He sold the franchise in order to finance BLD Diner and the renovation of the Columbia Fire Department Headquarters at Senate and Park streets in the Vista. Moore plans to open a French restaurant and event space at that location in the near future.

BLD Diner, in the former Hooligan’s location on the Trenholm Road side of Trenholm Plaza, will be open 6 a.m.- 9 p.m. seven days a week.
