More than 100 jobs coming to SC as power tool company plans expansion
A power tool manufacturing company has expanded its recently-established operation in Charleston County, according to Gov. Henry McMaster’s office.
Daye North America is investing $3.5 million to bolster its facility in North Charleston, the governor’s office said in a news release. The financial infusion is expected to create 131 jobs, according to the release.
Founded in 2017, Daye North America produces outdoor power equipment including gas-powered and battery-powered lawn mowers, string trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, lawn tractors and zero-turn radius riding mowers, the governor’s office said.
The company established operations in North Charleston in 2020, according to Charleston County Council Chairman Teddie Pryor.
The expansion of the facility at 8060 Commerce Center Road created additional assembly space for lawn mowers before distribution to local, regional and national retailers.
“We are excited that Daye North America is expanding just a year and a half after establishing their operations in Charleston County,” McMaster said in the release.
Secretary of Commerce Harry Lightsey said the company’s expansion enhances the Palmetto State’s reputation as a manufacturing powerhouse for international manufacturers. Daye North America is a subsidiary of Chinese company Ningbo Daye Garden Machinery Company.
Those interested in applying for a job can email the company.
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has awarded Charleston County a $250,000 Set-Aside grant to assist with the cost of building improvements, according to the release.
