Lexington-Richland 5 announces snow makeup day
No fun day on President’s Day for students of Lexington-Richland School District 5.
The district announced on Tuesday that it plans to make up the lost school day of Jan. 17 on Feb. 19, which was initially scheduled as a teacher workday. Feb. 19 is also President’s Day.
“We consulted with our principals, staff and district leaders to ensure our decision would provide the best possible way to make up lost instructional time with the least negative impact on our families,” said Christina Melton, district superintendent.
Students missed Jan. 17 when a winter storm brought snow and ice to parts of South Carolina. Two potential make-up days remain: March 30 and April 6.
