Headed to the Ying Yang Twins, Nelly concert in Columbia? Here’s what you need to know
As the staff at Spirit Communications Park gears up for their first music festival, officials gave out a few tips for concertgoers.
The United Music Fest, which features Nelly, Ludacris, Flo Rida and the Ying Yang Twins, will kick off Friday at 7 p.m.
For those who have yet to get their tickets, Fireflies president John Katz said they can still be purchased, with some even available at the gate before the artists hit the stage.
Tickets range from $32 to $127, according to the Fireflies website.
“Everyone should be prepared for a great show,” Katz said.
Parking will be available at the stadium, but will cost drivers $10, which is more than double what it costs to park at a game, Katz said.
People living in the downtown area or near the universities are encouraged to take the Soda Cap Connector, which is a shuttle that will take concertgoers to the stadium for free, Katz said. The buses will run from 4 p.m. to Midnight.
No outside food or drink will be admitted into the stadium, Katz said. Concertgoers will be allowed to bring a clear bag, but no chairs.
Alcohol and concessions will be sold at the stadium, Katz said.
With a flood of concertgoers about to descend on the park for its first concert, Katz said there is some concern about the condition of the Fireflies home field afterward. New sod may have to be placed on the field in some areas, but most of it should fair well under a protective flooring, he added.
