7 earthquakes in 7 days: This small SC town shaken once again Monday

A small S.C. town has been struck by a minor earthquake for the seventh time in the past week.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported a magnitude 2.0 earthquake was recorded near Jenkinsville at 11 a.m. Monday.

Jenkinsville residents are getting use to the quakes, which have struck their area of Fairfield County multiple times in the past week. The most recent earthquake was Sunday, and recorded three small quakes on Thursday. All those earthquakes have been under 2.5 magnitude.

It’s a high percentage of the 20 earthquakes South Carolina has experienced so far this year, according to the S.C. Emergency Management Division.

Jenkinsville is in the southwest corner of Fairfield County, near Lake Monticello and the V.C. Summer nuclear site. It is about 25 miles north of Columbia.
