New car wash headed to a heavily trafficked road in the Columbia area. Check out where
Nearly 40,000 cars per day traverse down Augusta Road in West Columbia near Interstate 26. Folks will soon be able to pull over along that thoroughfare and get those cars washed.
Site work is underway for a Take 5 Express Car Wash location in the 2800 block of Augusta Road in West Columbia. The car wash will be in front of the shopping center that includes Carolina Pottery. There also is a Murphy gas station under construction in front of Carolina Pottery.
The car wash spot is just west of I-26. According to S.C. Department of Transportation traffic data, 39,200 cars per day travel that stretch of Augusta Road.
The State reached out to Take 5 Car Wash’s parent company about an opening date for the car wash but didn’t immediately hear back. A store locator tool on the company’s website doesn’t show any other Take 5 car washes in South Carolina, though they are located in a number of other states, including Texas, Alabama and Georgia, among others.
Express car washes have continued to pop up around the Columbia area, especially in busy traffic corridors. For instance, a Time to Shine Car Wash is making plans to set up shop at the corner of Harbison Boulevard and Columbiana Drive, in the popular Harbison commercial and shopping district near Columbiana Centre mall.
