Tacos and strudels: Two new restaurants are coming to downtown Columbia
A pair of new restaurants are set to come to the Main Street District in downtown Columbia.
According to the City Center Partnership, which advocates for businesses in the downtown core, The Strudel Shop will set up shop at 1237 Washington St. That’s the former location of M Fresh restaurant. The Strudel Shop will be a bakery specializing in strudels and pastries. It also will have baking classes for small groups, the partnership said.
Meanwhile, Taco Grande is set for 1212 Hampton St. That’s the spot that was formerly occupied by Fancy That Bistro. Taco Grande will specialize in street tacos and nachos.
Opening dates are not set for the restaurants, but City Center Partnership officials said they would likely open in the first quarter of 2022. Both businesses reportedly are out of North Carolina.
Taco Grande and The Strudel Shop are the latest additions to the Main Street District, which has continued to add restaurants, bars and other attractions. For instance, the high-end Smoked, which specializes in oysters and other delicacies, recently opened in the 1600 block of Main Street. The Ambrosia Taverna Greek restaurant is setting up shop on the 1700 block of Main Street. And Takosushi, an Asian and Southwest fusion restaurant, is coming to the Arcade Mall along Main Street.
