A long-running deli in one of Columbia’s key dining and hospitality districts has closed for good.

Jason’s Deli, which has operated for more than a decade at 823 Gervais St. in the Vista, announced on social media that it was permanently closing.

“Hello everyone, unfortunately we have come to the tough decision to close the 823 Gervais St., Columbia, SC deli location, effective immediately,” the restaurant posted on Facebook. “We are extremely grateful that we had the opportunity to serve the community for over 10 years and we cherish the time spent here. Thank you all for being wonderful guests.”

The restaurant’s website and Google listings also note its permanent closure.

Jason’s Deli is a chain with locations across the nation. It is known for its sandwiches, soups and salads, and has been a mainstay of the catering scene in Columbia.

The Vista has been on a bit of a roller coaster ride recently in terms of openings and closings.

Aside from Jason’s Deli, the longtime Starbucks location closed its doors in December.

Meanwhile, Boku Kitchen and Saloon recently opened up shop along Gervais, and Peebles Barbecue and Wings opened this week at 902-B Gervais St.
