A Columbia Chick-fil-A is moving and has set an opening date for the new store

A Chick-fil-A restaurant in Columbia is moving to a new location and has now set an opening date for the new store.

As has long been in the works, the Chick-fil-A at 2600 Decker Blvd. is moving to 7515 Two Notch Road in Columbia. According to multiple Instagram posts from the restaurant and fliers customers have been receiving at the Decker location, the new Chick-fil-A on south Two Notch Road will open at 6:30 a.m. Aug. 4.

The flier notes the long history Chick-fil-A has had at the Decker Boulevard spot and sets a hopeful tone for the new store.

“We thank you for 30 years of positive impact!” the flier said. “We thank you for 30 years of memories! We can’t wait to build on our legacy with you (at the new location).“

The new chicken sandwich spot at 7515 Two Notch Road will be about a quarter mile north of Interstate 20. It will be next door to a Waffle House on one side and a Best Western Plus hotel on the other. There’s a Lizard’s Thicket restaurant across the street.

The coming Two Notch road location is about a mile-and-a-half from the Decker Boulevard site and puts the restaurant closer to I-20.

“As a restaurant matures, we reassess the location and its ability to serve the restaurant’s future growth,” Chick-fil-A said in a January statement to The State regarding the move. “Depending on availability, we often look to find a location that better supports our needs.”

Chick-fil-A has continued to make tweaks in the Midlands, where the chicken chain enjoys tremendous popularity.

The company has demolished its store at 294 Harbison Blvd. in the busy Harbison shopping district. It will rebuild a new version of the restaurant back on the site, with more square footage and a multi-lane drive-thru.

Chick-fil-A also opened a new store on Platt Springs Road in the fast-growing Red Bank area in Lexington County back in March.

There are 15 Chick-fil-A stores in the Columbia and Lexington area, according to a restaurant locator tool on the company’s website.
