A West Columbia furniture, home decor shop is closing its doors

A furniture and home decor shop in the heart of West Columbia announced plans to close.

Studio 221 Interiors, located at 536 Meeting St., about a half mile west of the Gervais Street bridge, announced on its social media platforms that it is closing. While an exact date for closing wasn’t offered in the posts, discount sales already have begun, with red and yellow signs in front of the store announcing that “everything must go.”

The Meeting Street shop opened last fall. In posts on Facebook and Instagram, Studio 221’s owners nodded at the uneven landscape in the current economy and business climate.

“Logistically, prices continue to increase, supply continues to be a challenge, and traffic continues to slow down,” the posts said. “It is a very challenging time for small businesses.”

The shop said on social media that all sales are final in the time before the shop closes, and that customers must take purchased items with them or pick them up within a week of purchase. Delivery is not an option.

Studio 221 Interiors also will have a Christmas in July event at 5:30 p.m. July 25 where Christmas and fall decor items will be 75% off.
