A Southern restaurant ‘with an upscale twist’ has closed in Columbia’s Harbison area

A casual dining restaurant in Columbia’s Harbison retail area has closed its doors after about a year in business.

Willie Sue’s Food and Spirits, located at 380 Columbiana Drive not far from the Columbiana Centre mall, has closed according to posts on social media from the restaurant. Its last day was Sunday.

“Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will be closing our doors on (Sept. 18),” the restaurant said in a post on Facebook. “Thank you for all of your support and patronage!”

A Google business entry for Willie Sue’s in Columbia lists the business as permanently closed. More than 100 people had commented on the restaurant’s farewell post on Facebook as of Monday morning, with many recalling trips there with friends and family.

The Willie Sue’s location in Sumter, which has been in business for a number of years, remains open.

Willie Sue’s on Columbiana Drive was open for just more than a year. The building at that location was previously home to a restaurant called Tilted Kilt.

The restaurant describes itself on its website as a “Southern cuisine restaurant with an upscale twist,” with a menu that includes steaks, ribs, chicken and waffles, and more. The company is known for its wood-fired grills and a deep bourbon list.
