Richland County Council is considering tax incentives for an unspecified manufacturing project that could invest $2 billion in the county and create 4,000 full-time jobs, according to county documents.

Little other information was available about the project, which has been dubbed “Project Connect” by the county.

The unnamed company behind the massive project would agree to invest $400 million within eight years of the deal with the county, and $2 billion within 13 years, according to the documents included in the Richland County Council agenda packet for Tuesday night’s meeting.

County Council members are expected to take the second of three required votes to approve the incentives.

The exact location of the would-be development has not been shared.

If approved, the deal would follow other recent record-setting developments recently announced in Richland County, including a $323 million battery materials plant announced in December, and a potential $1 billion manufacturing project that incentives were approved for in November.

The Richland County Council will consider the tax breaks at a meeting Feb. 14.
