A growing restaurant concept that has Asian and Latin-inspired flavors is plotting another Midlands location.

TakoSushi, which opened a new spot in the historic Arcade Mall in downtown Columbia in 2022 and recently announced it would develop a location on West Main Street in Lexington, also has plans to expand to Forest Acres.

A Forest Acres restaurant is listed as “coming soon” on TakoSushi’s website. James Williams, the president of TakoSushi’s ownership group, said the company has not yet finalized an exact location for the Forest Acres unit, but talks are ongoing.

“We are still in a little bit of negotiations there,” Williams said. “But we are really excited about the Forest Acres neighborhood. We think it’s just awesome. I think our food lends itself really well to the clientele there. We have been looking for a spot there, and I think we should be getting a deal done pretty soon there.”

TakoSushi currently has locations in Greenville, Columbia, Aiken and the Augusta area. Williams recently told The State he hopes a planned Lexington location at the corner of West Main and Church streets in Lexington would be open by this summer. The company also is planning a second location in Greenville.

The restaurant has a menu that offers sushi and other Asian dishes, as well as tacos, nachos and other Latin-inspired favorites.
