A new spot for medical services for your pets is coming to a bustling stretch of Lexington County.

The Pet Space Veterinarian Hospital is opening at 356-B Longs Pond Road in Lexington. It will be right next door to the Starbucks coffee shop that opened there last summer. The location is less than a mile south of Interstate 20, and other nearby businesses include Arby’s, McDonald’s, Dollar General and others. The spot also is across the road from the South Brook residential subdivision.

According to a post on The Pet Space’s Facebook page, the veterinary hospital is aiming to open in May.

“As a family-owned full-service veterinary hospital, we are dedicated to providing compassionate care and veterinary excellence for your furry family members,” the Facebook post said. “Whether your pet needs a routine check-up, vaccinations, or specialized care, our experienced team of veterinarians and staff are here to help.”

Per The Pet Space’s website, Dr. Sherrelle Milligan will be the veterinarian there. A bio for Milligan on the site said she got her doctor of veterinary medicine degree from the Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2014 and later earned a degree veterinary pathobiology with a focus on lipid biochemistry and metabolism from Texas A&M.

The new veterinary hospital will be accessible to the seemingly ever-growing number of motorists who traverse that area of Lexington County each day. S.C. Department of Transportation data indicate that 47,000 cars per day travel I-20 near the location, and nearly 10,000 cars per day drive down that section of Longs Pond Road.
