A new Starbucks cafe has just opened along this bustling Midlands roadway

Local residents and interstate travelers now have a new place to get caffeinated in Lexington.

Coffee giant Starbucks has opened a new location at 356-A Longs Pond Road in Lexington. That’s just south of Interstate 20. Nearby businesses include an Arby’s, a large Love’s gas station, a McDonald’s and a Dollar General, among other spots.

There is a second retail spot in the new building where the Starbucks is located, but a tenant has not yet occupied that space.

The new Starbucks will be accessible to the ever-growing number of motorists who traverse that area of Lexington County each day. S.C. Department of Transportation data indicate that 48,000 cars per day travel I-20 near the location, and nearly 10,000 cars per day drive down that section of Longs Pond Road.

Starbucks maintains a strong presence in the Midlands. There are more than 30 Starbucks stores in the Columbia and Lexington area, according to a store locator tool on the company’s website. The new Starbucks on Longs Pond Road is only 4 miles from the next closest location, at 2418 Augusta Highway.

And the coffee giant continues to make moves in the Midlands: Starbucks just opened a spot on Rosewood Drive in Columbia, and there’s another new one under construction at 7550 Garners Ferry Road in Columbia.
