The doughnuts are getting set to roll to northeast Columbia.

The Donut Guy, which has long had a popular food truck in Columbia and opened a brick-and-mortar location in the Vista last year, recently announced on its social media channels that it plans to open a second shop. The new one will be at 480-6 Town Center Place in the Village at Sandhill shopping district in northeast Columbia.

“In case you missed it ... OPENING SOON … Columbia, SC location #2,” The Donut Guy posted on Facebook on April 28. “The Donut Guy SANDHILL!”

The Donut Guy’s distinctive yellow food truck has appeared at Soda City Market and at other locations across the Midlands for years. In January 2022 it opened its first brick-and-mortar location at 1215 Lincoln St. in the heart of the Vista hospitality district.

The business is known for, among other things, the artisan mini-donuts and elephant ears it sells on the food truck, and the wide variety of full-size doughnuts that it bakes in the Lincoln Street shop.

This marks the second restaurant announcement at the Village at Sandhill in recent weeks. KPot Korean BBQ and Hot Pot announced it would go into the space at 480-2 Town Center Place in the village. That’s in the spot that used to be home to Wild Wing Cafe.
