This popular Columbia restaurant has reopened after moving to new location downtown
A Thai restaurant that had been popular in Columbia’s Vista has made the move to Main Street.
Kao Thai Cuisine, which was formerly located at 1001 Senate St., has now opened its doors at 1307 Main St. after the recent move. Kao Thai said on its social media channels that it is currently in a “soft reopening” phase on Main Street, where it is located right next door to Cantina 76 and across the street from Market on Main.
“Our soft reopening is the moment we’ve all been waiting for!” Kao Thai said on Facebook. “Come and enjoy the new enchanting atmosphere on (Main Street) and delectable dishes you’ve missed. As our staff eases into the new space — please be patient! We’ll announce our official grand opening in the coming weeks.”
A sign in the window at 1307 Main said Kao Thai currently is open from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
In a news release last year announcing the move, Kao Thai was described as a spot that offers “modern Thai eats that are commonly found on the streets of Bangkok, as well as a mix of creative Pan-Asian and Asian-American fusion dishes that are fresh and exciting.”
Kao Thai’s menu includes a host of Thai and other Asian flavors, including traditional dishes such as pad Thai and pad Thai fried rice, as well a number of curry dishes, Korean fried chicken and much more. The restaurant also has a full bar with wine, craft beer, cocktails and other libations.
