Lexington woman dies at house fire that’s under investigation, SC coroner says
A woman died at the scene of an early-morning house fire Saturday, according to the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.
Shelia Denise Turner, a 70-year-old Lexington resident, was identified as the victim, Coroner Margaret Fisher said in a news release.
The fire happened at a home in the 500 block of Pleasant View Drive at about 6:30 a.m., according to the release. That’s in the area between Interstate 20 and Interstate 26.
No cause of death was reported, and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, Fisher said.
No other injuries were reported.
Information about how long it took to extinguish the fire and the extent of the damages was not available.
There was no word about the cause of the fire, or where it started, but Turner’s death is being investigated by the coroner’s office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. Officials did not say if foul play is suspected.
