A new Japanese ramen restaurant has opened its doors on this bustling Columbia street
A new spot for ramen dishes and other Japanese flavors has opened in the heart of downtown Columbia.
Fuji Ramen has opened its doors at 1115 Assembly St., on the eastern edge of the Vista, across the street from the South Carolina State House. The business has been in a “soft opening” phase for the last week and was set for a grand opening on Friday, Sept. 15.
“Prepare your taste buds for an unforgettable culinary journey as we invite you to savor the rich, authentic flavors of our meticulously crafted ramen bowls,” Fuji Ramen said in a Facebook post. “Our secret lies in simmering our broth for a full 8+ hours, ensuring each spoonful is an explosion of taste and tradition.”
The space at 1115 Assembly St. has been home to a number of restaurant concepts through the years. It once housed a TakoSushi fusion restaurant, and later it was a Crabby Cajun spot. Most recently there had been a Kimchi Korean Grill at the address.
Fuji Ramen says on its website that it’s “a charming little ramen restaurant that takes pride in serving delicious and authentic Japanese ramen. The menu at Fuji Ramen offers a delightful selection of flavorful ramen bowls, carefully prepared with the freshest ingredients.”
There are, naturally, a host of ramen dishes on the Fuji menu, including the spicy miso ramen, which includes pork belly chashu, spinach, bean sprouts, egg, scallions and corn.
