A new ‘forest-to-table’ restaurant is being planned for this bustling Columbia district
A new restaurant concept is set to hit one of Columbia’s key hospitality districts.
The Hollow, a “forest-to-table” restaurant that will serve wild game and more, is coming to 823 Gervais St. in the Vista, according to a release from commercial real estate firm Colliers South Carolina. That space was formerly occupied by Jason’s Deli, which closed in 2022.
Signage for The Hollow at the Gervais Street site notes it will have fresh game, wild vegetables and botanical cocktails.
“It was a privilege to represent the property owner in locating a quality, local tenant to backfill the 5,900-square-foot vacancy left by Jason’s Deli,” Colliers’ John Gressette said in a statement. “(Restaurant owner) Chris Fitz and his team with The Hollow impressed us with their concept and market knowledge from the very start, and we look forward to the success and impact of this new restaurant in the Vista.”
The spot at 823 Gervais is located in the heart of the Vista, the downtown arts, shopping, dining and nightlife district that has remained enduringly popular in Columbia. The Hollow will be along a street that sees a high volume of traffic. Nearly 32,000 cars per day pass down that stretch of Gervais, per state Department of Transportation statistics.
“This space was worthy of a fresh, new concept within Columbia’s hottest entertainment and dining district,” Colliers’ Mary Winter Teaster said in a statement. “The Hollow is a unique, single-location concept that will greatly enhance the Vista’s dining options.”
