Two people in mid 20s killed in crash on Midlands highway are identified by SC coroner

Two people were killed in a single-car crash in the Midlands late Tuesday night, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Trooper Brandon Bolt said the crash happened at about 11:20 p.m. Oct. 31 on S.C. 215, a mile east of Jenkinsville in Fairfield County.

The trooper said in a news release that there were two people in a 2003 Chevrolet sedan that was driving north on S.C. 215. The car ran off the right side of the road, overturned and hit a tree, according to Bolt. Both occupants died, the Highway Patrol said.

Winnsboro residents Chrishonda Boyd, a 24-year-old who was driving the Chevy, and 25-year-old Jacquivs Robinson died at the scene, according to Fairfield County Coroner Chris Hill.

No other injuries were reported.

There was no word if either Boyd or Robinson were wearing seat belts.

Information about what caused the Chevy to veer off the road was not available, but the crash continues to be investigated by the Highway Patrol and coroner’s office. Autopsies are scheduled with Newberry Pathology to confirm the causes of death, Hill said.
